A practical heuristic multiplies body weight in kilograms by about 0.033 to estimate litres per day from drinks, then adds fluid for extra active hours. Food moisture also counts toward total water. Authoritative bodies publish adequate-intake ranges by sex and life stage rather than a single ml/kg rule for everyone.
