La fórmula

Healthy weight bounds come from reversing the BMI formula: weight = BMI × height(m)². WHO defines normal adult BMI as 18.5–24.9 kg/m², so the calculator multiplies your height (converted to metres) by those cutoffs to give minimum and maximum weights.

Weight (kg) = BMI × height (m)² · Healthy range: BMI 18.5–24.9

Ejemplo resuelto

  1. Height 175 cm → 1.75 m; 1.75² = 3.0625
  2. Minimum: 18.5 × 3.0625 ≈ 56.7 kg
  3. Maximum: 24.9 × 3.0625 ≈ 76.3 kg

Resultado: 56.7 – 76.3 kg healthy range

How healthy weight ranges are derived

Ideal weight here means the weight band associated with WHO normal BMI — not a single “perfect” number.

WHO BMI bands

For most adults, BMI below 18.5 is underweight, 18.5–24.9 is normal, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese. This calculator maps the normal band back to kilograms or pounds for your height.

Midpoint vs range

Any weight inside the band can be appropriate depending on muscle mass, bone structure, and clinical context. The midpoint is informational — not a target you must hit.

Limits

BMI-based ranges misclassify some muscular people and may not suit all ethnic groups or older adults. Pair results with waist measures and clinical advice when decisions matter.

Datos interesantes

Sibling of BMI

If you know your height, this tool answers “what weight keeps me in the normal BMI band?” — the inverse of a standard BMI calculator.

WHO cutoffs

The 18.5–24.9 band is the WHO adult normal range used in most international screening guidance.

Not one perfect weight

Healthy weight is a range. Two people of the same height can differ by several kilograms and both be healthy.

Asian action points

Some regional guidance uses lower BMI action points (e.g. ≥23) for Asian populations — follow guidance your clinician uses.

Athletes

Heavy muscle can push BMI above 25 while body fat stays low — a range tool cannot capture that nuance alone.

Preguntas frecuentes

For most adults, the weight that yields BMI 18.5–24.9 is considered the healthy screening range. Enter your height to see that band in kg or lbs.

We apply weight = BMI × height² using WHO normal BMI limits. Imperial height is converted to metres first.

It uses the same formula in reverse. BMI calculator: weight + height → BMI. Ideal weight: height → weight range for normal BMI.

Not necessarily. Any weight inside the range may be fine. Muscle, age, and health history matter beyond a single number.
